Astrology of the Week 17 ~ 23 August 2026
Astrology of the
Week
17 ~ 23 August 2026
This week asks us to be honest about what we’ve already got. There’s a jolt to the identity question — not destabilising, just honest. Whatever we’ve been carrying — a relationship running on hope, a desire we haven’t fully accounted for, an image of ourself we’ve been maintaining for other people — is going to need a clear-eyed look before the week is out. We do not need to leave this week with everything solved. We simply need to know ourselves better than we did when it began. Choose what supports, strengthen what deserves to remain and release what keeps asking us to shrink.
This week takes us on a journey that begins in a bit of a fog but eventually brings us face-to-face with reality. The week begins by showing us what feels good and ends by asking whether those choices are sustainable. Pleasure, love, beauty, and desire are meaningful parts of life, but we are reminded that value becomes visible through what we are willing to maintain, protect, and take responsibility for.
Early in the week, warmth, optimism, flirtation, generosity, and the desire to enjoy ourselves get a boost. By Friday, we get to enjoy what we want, examine what we feel, and then decide whether our choices can survive contact with reality. This is a week about knowing the difference between pleasure and avoidance, affection and obligation, compromise and self-erasure. Somewhere between Monday’s optimism and Friday’s reality check, we may discover that some of our standards need adjusting while others need defending.
During this eclipse season, we exist in a somewhat altered state of consciousness. Everyday life may seem quite surreal, events unfold very rapidly, and perspectives can shift from moment to moment. At the same time, we are very sensitive on all levels—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—so even small issues could feel overwhelming at times. The effects and karmic intentions of our recent Total Solar Eclipse are strongly highlighted on Saturday, which may reveal even more of the kinds of radical changes that next week’s Lunar Eclipse is meant to manifest.
MARS SQUARE NEPTUNE Rx (Monday)
We could feel uncertain about our best course of action. The clarity of direction might seem blurred, suggesting that relying on intuition could be more impactful than sheer force. Motivation loses its footing. Effort that should be straightforward leaks away, and it's hard to tell tiredness from simple lack of inspiration. It may be wise to delay taking action until the fog has cleared. Embracing rest, tapping into imagination, and practicing surrender can uncover the flow that sheer effort often overlooks. This challenges us to soften the ego's overactive threat sensitivity, which often results in the fright, flight, or freeze response. Instead, we are called to take the initiative by going within, listening to our soul's directives and intuitive guidance.
Longing for all the things we want, and regret due to the realisation that those things are behind us rather than ahead of us. Watch out for passive aggression. People may react to events from three years ago while insisting the issue is what happened last week.
So could exhaustion, mixed signals, emotional rescuing, martyrdom, and arguments where nobody remembers how the conversation started. If we’re too caught up in the future then we miss out on what those precious moments that we only live once have to offer, and if we’re too caught up in the past then we miss out on the promise of what the future can bring because we’re mourning the loss of things that were once here and are now gone.
MERCURY TRINE SATURN (Monday)
Realistic thinking is clear and orderly while energy runs low. Make practical plans in alignment with longterm goals. Confidence becomes more effective when it has structure behind it. Say what needs to be said without turning the conversation into community theatre. Revisit a plan, clarify expectations, edit something important, or have a conversation previously avoided because we were unsure how to approach it.
VENUS SEXTILE JUPITER (Monday)
Social interactions can go well, romance gets a boost, creative projects benefit from confidence, and diplomacy may accomplish what confrontation cannot. Creative activities bring enjoyment, especially those that are shared with others. Increased extravagance or indulgence can include pleasure, generosity, confidence, inspiring spontaneous purchases.
